It is a dark period for my family with the loss of my aunt, maiguru Kachingwe. Her departure was sudden and unexpected but we all pray she is in a better place now. I last saw her two years ago when she came here to Namibia, and her visit lays fresh in my memory. And she will forever be an inspiration to me and the whole of Zimbabwe. To those who didn’t know her as aunt, she was the former Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Information, Posts and Telecommunications, who was declared a liberation war heroine. She was the first black female to enroll at the then University of Rhodesia in 1957, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English and History. The Deputy Prime Minister, Professor Arthur Mutambara said the late Mrs Kachingwe was a leader par excellence who distinguished herself as an academic, civil servant and a mother. Zanu PF Secretary for Women Affairs, Oppah Muchinguri said all women should emulate the leadership qualities that were demonstrated by the late Mrs Kachingwe. Muchinguri said the late Mrs Kachingwe was a woman of great humility who remained humble even after achieving so much in life. My condolences to all my family, her friends and colleagues. And may the Lord be with her immediate family and keep them strong. Amen.

Are you an entrepreneur?

I came across this while reading through Forbes and I totally second it:

Entrepreneurs, in the purest sense, are those who identify a need —any need— and fill it. It’s a primordial urge, independent of product, service, industry or market.

The keyword being “any”. I believe in Southern Africa we have the would be entrepreneurs, our limitation being the myth that entrepreneurship is opening a shop and selling.

Don’t hold back on acting on your ideas, the world needs them.
